How to Accept Bitcoin Payments

Easily accept Bitcoin payments via QR code at your store

When a customer visits a Bitcoin payment store, the actual Bitcoin payment process works as follows. Bitcoin payments are not more complicated than card payments and are completed simply by scanning a QR code.

This process is designed so that even first-time users can follow it easily.

① Prepare a Bitcoin Wallet

To accept Bitcoin payments, a Bitcoin wallet is required.

  • If you already have a Bitcoin wallet or Lightning wallet, you can use it as is by displaying your wallet address or QR code.
  • If you do not have a wallet, you can easily create one within the Akasha app.

The Akasha wallet also includes POS functionality, allowing merchants to:

  • Manage sales records in ledger format
  • Download transaction data
  • Simplify store operations

② Show the QR Code at the Store

At the time of payment, the store simply shows a QR code to the customer. Depending on the supported payment method, the QR code may be:

  • Lightning payment QR code
  • On-chain Bitcoin address QR code
  • Binance Pay QR code

If the store already has a registered Lightning wallet address, or if the store uses an Akasha wallet, the store's QR code can be displayed directly.

The customer enters the payment amount in their wallet and scans the store's QR code to complete the payment.

Alternatively, if you are using the Akasha wallet, you can:

  • Enter the amount directly in the wallet, or
  • Create an invoice through the POS function

This generates a new QR code with the amount included, which you can show to the customer.

③ Complete the Payment in the Wallet

The customer scans the QR code using their Bitcoin wallet and confirms the payment.

  • Lightning payments are completed almost instantly, usually within 10 seconds.
  • Once the payment is completed, both the customer and the store can verify the transaction in their wallets.

That's it—Bitcoin payment is complete.
